4.13.10 – Stressful Start to the Day

Today was the day of my visa appointment at the British Embassy in Copenhagen to acquire my visa for the time that I will be there this summer. Therefore, I got up with earlier than usual and arrived at the embassy with more than enough time for my appointment. I then progressed through all their security measures until finally getting into the building. The woman behind the counter than proceeded to go through my documents that I had brought with me, then…she told me that I was applying for the wrong thing. (WHOA!) I told her that I was informed to apply for this type of visa, so I really didn’t think I had the wrong form. About an hour later and a couple of people looking over my documents and request, I was told to contact my internship program and get more information and come back on another day. ☹

The worst thing about it was that I knew that I had the right form, but I couldn’t figure out a way to prove it to them because they apparently prefer proof in written documents and things. Once I got to DIS, I proceeded to print practically every document I could find that related to my internship program for the summer. I also contacted the Foundation I will be interning through to get their confirmation that I was applying for the right thing, which they did acknowledge. After confirmation, I proceeded to schedule yet another visa appointment (for tomorrow) to give it another go. This time I am coming more prepared, and hopefully things will go more smoothly.

After this chaotic start to the day, I had my two classes in the afternoon, which were rather uneventful. We pretty much just went over midterm exams and feedback. Then after class, I had a meeting with my marketing group, our professor, and a gentleman from our client company for our big marketing report for the semester. It was actually really information and I think our group has a really good starting point to move from for the rest of our project. It also gave us some much needed clarifications and insights. I can hardly believe that the final report for this is due in only three weeks.

Following all of this, I was finally able to head home where I had dinner with my host family, made an overview schedule of school projects/papers/tests for these last 5 weeks of the semester, and managed to be a little productive in getting readings and work completed for the remainder of this week.

I simply am hoping that tomorrow’s trip to the embassy will be more productive than the one today. We will simply have to see how this one goes. I guess the benefit of actually going to the embassy is that I can talk to someone in person, which makes figuring out complications a little easier.
