25.1.10 - The Original Village of Copenhagen

I am beginning to fall into a routine here already in Denmark, however I admit that it is not preferable waking up at 6:30 in the morning for a class that I have 2 hours later. As always I managed to get myself into the city for classes. While I prepared for class as I usually would, I have figured out that I think I can be a little more lax in my reading and note taking. Not that it is a bad thing, however we only slightly covered the material in the readings that I did for my European Business Strategy class. I did feel prepared, but I think I did too much work for what it was all worth. Class was fine overall though, but I can tell that the emphasis revolves around the knowledge that we will gain from our field studies.

In my second class for the day – History of Copenhagen, I learned some fun facts that I found more interesting. Including, that my school here, DIS, sits upon the original “town” of Copenhagen (what it used to be before the middle ages). Additionally, we were given our first assignment, which will allow me to wandering around Copenhagen again and learn all about the major, historical sites and places. I think that I will become very versed in the development of Copenhagen and its history by the time that I complete this course.

I then began my 5 hour break between classes. I didn’t do a lot but I was rather productive. I finished my reading for my final class of the day (at 4:25), completed my readings for tomorrow, signed up for a few more trips throughout the semester organized by DIS, including a trip to an abbey this Sunday to play medieval games with my fellow students, then rock climbing along the Swedish coast in April and then finally Legoland all the way in May! I am already excited about these trips even though I know that several are sometime away. Now I have to begin deciding and planning for other places that I wish to go with friends that I have met so far. After all of this, I walked around the city for a brief period of time and then returned back to DIS to wait a little longer until class began. It is still SO cold outside. I like to consider myself a winter girl, however I seriously want it to get warmer here. It doesn’t even have to be considerably warmer; even several degrees would help.

I then went off to my last class of the day – International marketing and branding. Again, I realized that the reading preparation differed greatly from what was presented in class, so I will probably alter my prep style for this one too. After class, I simply went to the station to head home. Now I am simply waiting until my host parents arrive so that we may have dinner, and then I will work on a few more things throughout the evening.
