23.1.10 - Exploring HILLERØD

Today I was grateful because I got to sleep into 10:00 and then take my time actually getting ready. Before I actually got ready for the day, I finished the book I was ready, ate a late breakfast, took a shower, checked my email, and a few other random things. It was very nice. I think made plans with my friend Taylor to meet at the train station in my town and walk around Hillerod (the town I live in) and explore the center area of town and get something to eat. We easily found the main walking street, which was lined with a variety of stores and a few restaurants. We then also walked near the Castle, however we didn’t go into it (again that is something I want to do later once the weather become nicer out). We then discovered an indoor mall, so we headed inside. I didn’t realize there even a mall in my town. Additionally it was rather large, it seemed like it kept going and going. While we were in the mall, we found a café to eat at. I got a smorresbrod (open faced sandwich) and a sprite for lunch. It was rather expensive but that’s okay. I was informed that things were going to be costly.

After lunch we then went to a store in the mall called Kvingly (I think it is pronounced ving-lu) – it is comparable to a Walmart I guess but not as large of a selection. Pretty much there is a small selection of a lot of things. We were actually looking for something, which is why we went. Taylor actually spent the night in Kelli’s Kollegium in the common room because his train actually stopped even earlier than mine. So at lunch we decided to see if we could find an air mattress to keep at Kelli’s so if either of us stayed in the city for the night, we would have a better place to crash. The funny part was that we actually found one! – we couldn’t find a pump so the first time blowing it up will be interesting to say the least. It was only 130kr (about $30), which we will split. I think in the long run it will end up being a wise purchase. While we were there, we also invested in some sweets, including this hazelnut chocolate that I like so much I had to force myself to stop eating it and some fruit gummies.

After the store, we then made our way back to the station so we could each head home respectively. Now I am at home, and my host mom and dad are beginning to get ready for dinner. I believe they are having some friend over. So I guess I will be having dinner with all of them, and then hang around the house tonight and hopefully talk to a few people from home on Skype tonight, and watch some TV. It is definitely a relaxing weekend, which is much appreciated.
